Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson, born in Paris France of British parents Jacqueline Luesby Watson and Chris Watson both attorneys. At the age five she relocated from London to Oxfordshire where she attended the Dragon School. Emma's ambition was to become an actor. As a young girl of six, she joined the Oxford Stagecoach Theatre Arts branch in which she was taught classes for acting, singing as well as dancing. In a school play and the stage of a Stagecoach Production, Emma took the lead at the age 10, and acted. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the movie adaptation of J.K. Rowling's bestselling British novel began casting in 1999. Agents for casting found Emma by way of her Oxford theatre instructor. David Heyman told Emma along together with Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe that they had all been through eight consecutive auditions. Emma's debut film appearance came with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in the year 2001. The movie set records in terms of opening day and weekend sales, and it was the highest-grossing film of 2001. The critics were impressed by the performance of the film as well as its story. The Daily Telegraph in Britain and the Daily Telegraph in America, widely read, called her performance commendable. In the following days, Emma was shortlisted for five awards for her performance in the film and was awarded the Young Artist Award for Leading Actress of a Younger in an Feature Film.
